On Human Rights Day, we continue to support the people’s call for accountability and justice for the communities affected by the Libya floods.
We call for:
Holding individuals knowledgeable or responsible for the neglected dams, and all authorities obstructed relief efforts and failed to mitigate the damage in the flood’s aftermath accountable.
The provision of holistic reparations, including financial compensation and guarantees of non-recurrence, to the victims of the floods and affected communities.
An end to the civil society crackdown that puts journalists, activists and front-liner defenders at daily risk.
Urgent efforts to identify migrant and refugees affected by the floods and critical protection going forward for their safety and well-being.
